Miriam’s House, designed to end the cycle of homelessness, serves homeless single women or mothers and their children.
Not a shelter, Miriam’s House seeks to be preventative in nature for the children and rehabilitative for the adults. It is hoped that by offering a comprehensive program, individuals may be empowered to live independently.
HISTORY & UNIQUENESS:
- Founded by Mrs. Elizabeth Forsyth & visionary, Rev. Beverly Cosby
- Broke ground for center in 1991
- Opened our doors in 1994 for residents
- Located in the historic Rivermont area of Lynchburg, VA
- The only transitional housing program in Central VA specifically for homeless women & children

- Transitioning to permanent housing
- Weekly house meetings to work out issues pertaining to the smooth and successful process of communal living
