Staff of Miriam’s House
Mary Alex, MSW, Executive Director: “M-A” has recently joined the staff as Executive Director. She is a transplant from the Washington, DC area where she had her own national and international consulting boutique firm. She has done capacity building consulting around the world to “lift the voices of women and girls” in programs that work to combat HIV/AIDS, sex trafficking, and other human rights violations. Prior to Miriam’s House, MA was working in Abuja, Nigeria with organizations that work to end human trafficking, as well as to better the lives of children who are orphaned by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. She has also worked in news production for National Public Radio and CBS radio in San Francisco, CA. M-A possesses a Masters of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (clinical program planning), as well as an undergraduate degree in both Public Relations and Broadcast Journalism. She was just chosen to represent Lynchburg at the Sorensen Institute of Political Leadership at the University of Virginia, Class of 2011. Away from work and school, M-A is a competitive cyclist, racing her road and cyclocross bikes, and is a member of the local team called “Dire Wolf”.
Sarah Quarantotto, MSW, Clinical Director: Sarah has recently joined Miriam’s House after working for the past six years with various social service and mental health agencies in Lynchburg. Sarah is excited about the opportunity to join an agency with such a rich history of empowering women made vulnerable by poverty. She has a Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and in the future plans on doing international social work to provide services to impoverished communities. Sarah has recently been married and on most weekends can be found kayaking on the James River with her husband, Jeremiah.

Nancy Kirt, Office & Volunteer Manager:
Nancy has been with Miriam’s House for 13 years. Outside of working at Miriam’s House she does bookkeeping for friends, family and her Church. In her free time Nancy likes to read, cook, swim, play softball and piano and enjoys visiting with her family and friends.

Maura just recently joined Miriam’s House and is in her senior year at Liberty University studying communications. In her free time she loves photography and is a coffee lover!
Relief Staff:
Vicky Bradley has been with Miriam’s House for over 11 years. She first worked with Miriam’s House from 1995 to 2006 and rejoined the staff in October 2010. During the day Vicky manages life insurance cases at Colonial Brokerage House, Inc. In her free time Vicky loves to attend Festivals, enjoys spending time with her friends and loved ones and most of all loves to be outside, close to nature.
